It was a CGI mess with some enjoyable elements but still a mess, Kang and Wasp senior being the best parts of the movie as well as Paul Rudd, who can always deliver a likable personality, but the general movie story and direction were generic, weak and uninspiring, it was still better than Thor L&T though, I think it's clear they need to stop with Rick and Morty writers and hire people who can offer more imaginative stories that use comic book lore to the max instead of cheap jokes. tarot - 2023-02-20 @ 11:01 pm
I watched it today and loved it. It sets up so many things while it contains its own story. I also think a younger version of someone will appear soon, either setting up Secret Wars or Kang Dynasty.

I think a lot of the "fatigue" is amplified by people like Scorse and Tarantino tearing down Marvel movies in general; they seem to forget that if this isn't their cup of tea, nothing's stopping them from making the movies they like. At one time westerns were all the rage. At one time it was mafia movies. The superhero genre will fade in time, as well. But there's no need to belittle the actors in the meantime. I'm looking forward to this next Ant-Man, because I hear there's more Hank/Janet backstory, and it'll be interesting to see how they added to the MCU 'verse we know today. Can't all be about Stark. Pym's discovery and association with SHIELD is crucial and deserves to be showcased. I just got around to seeing the 2nd Black Panther so definitely stoked to see this one.
I really liked this movie, I liked the feel of it, the environments, the creatures and denizens all were really great to look at, the pace was good, it had just enough funnies that it didn't feel forced, and the serious tones were well done, yes Majors is really good here, liked everyone in this film actually, some good strong action sequences, overall a fun film, was surprised at actually how much I liked MODOK, it's so stupid it's lovable, and when you really look the whole MODOK thing it's pretty damn visually accurate to how a comic MODOK would translate on the big screen, and he acted like MODOK is generally portrayed in modern media. and don't forget to watch those end credit scenes.
I just arrived home from seeing. 7/10. Things I loved: -Kang- Great actor and the costume/character design are amazing. My favorite of any character in the MCU. -Bill Murray. Awesome as always -Special effects and environments -Cassie Lang/Stature- Really liked her in this and I hope we get her and Kate Bishop on the same screen very soon. Things I disliked: -No Michael Pena/Not as much comedy as the previous movies and the jokes they did have weren't very good. -Another "Epic"/big Battle ending to a marvel movie. I feel like marvel does this too much nowadays and it's getting boring and takes away from when they really should do one. Some movies can be involved without army battles.
Awesome! Sooo looking forward to seeing this!
I really liked it. It was a good time. Majors is absolutely phenomenal. I felt like Wasp got some better scenes than the previous movies. I did have three problems with it that would be spoilers to talk about. I'll have to see it again to determine how much they bother me in the long run. MODOK does look a little janky, but the landscapes and all the other fx are great. Cool aliens really made it for me. The Star Wars feel comments I've heard are justified.

Yeah, the critics have trashed it, but audiences have given it solid scores. My theory in that us that they are experiencing Marvel film fatigue and it is hard for them to just enjoy what it is (it isnt meant to be Shakespeare). Because it is an Anr-Man film and it takes place in the Quantum Realm, you are able to enjoy and accept things you might not have if it was say an Ironman filmyou will see what I am saying once you watch it. I have to say, I do miss the Russo Brothers a lot though their films were never clunky and they never used a bad take - they were just really well balanced in their films.

NO SPOILERS - Solid review, Jay C! Saw it in London on Friday and my reaction was nearly the same as yours. I absolutely hated Multiverse of Madness (And Doctor Strange is one of my favorites) and like you I felt that Love and Thunder had way too much comedy, to the point that it was just too uneven, and hokey (which is sad because Taika knocked it out of the park with Ragnarok). I feared Quantumania would suffer the same fate, so I was happy to find that was not the case. Definitely had clunky parts in terms of dialogue and overacting, but all in all it was pretty fun, and the mid-credits scenes were great (especially the last one).
