New Black Panther Video Game Coming From EA

Jay Cochran - July 10, 2023
Marvel Games and EA’s latest studio Cliffhanger Games are proud to announce a new, original, third-person, single-player Black Panther title in development!

Led by Kevin Stephens (Monolith Productions), Cliffhanger has already brought together accomplished talent with leaders from the critically acclaimed and innovative action-adventure game, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, along with veterans of top franchises including Halo Infinite, God of War, Call of Duty and others.

“We’re dedicated to delivering fans a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience, giving them more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do,” said Kevin.

The development team at Cliffhanger Games will be working in partnership with Marvel Games "to ensure that we craft every aspect of Wakanda, its technology, its heroes, and our own original story with the attention to detail and authenticity that the world of Black Panther deserves."

“It’s an incredibly rare opportunity to build a new team around the values of diversity, collaboration, and empowerment,” said Kevin. “We want our game to enable players to feel what it’s like to be worthy of the Black Panther mantle in unique, story-driven ways, and we want Cliffhanger Games to empower everyone on our team as we collaborate to bring this amazing world to life.”

Yep. He was also Cyborg in Teen Titans and Aqualad in Young Justice.

Yeah, I checked it out afterwards as well. Oh, I had no idea about the other two either. As Black Panther though, I think he's cool in that first footage.

This game does look very cool from the trailer, but it didn't really show much of the actual gameplay, just tons of cut scenes, sure some characters moving, and that looked really quite good, but it still doesn't exhibit what the final product we actually get is going to be like, Either way might buy this once it gets discounted, most games tend to eventually.

Hopefully the gameplay won't disappoint like it was the case with few previous Marvel games in past, Midnight sons had great cinematic but gameplay was for the very specific even niche audience. I have a gut feeling this game is the higher end version of that kinda good but generic Cap movie game from 2011.

Doesn't look terrible, though I've never cared for the whole "hero vs. hero because of a misunderstanding" thing. In fact I've always rather hated it. Would have liked to see more gameplay footage, since as far as I can tell the only gameplay we saw was really just characters moving.

So you hate the origin the Avengers, all Stan Lee written comics, and the basis of every single hero friendship/ team up! Lol. I get it. The plot point is pretty played out. I will always love it though. It's like the pro wrestling troupe where two enemies become an amazing tag team!

Going from the trailer, I wouldn't be surprised if the Black panther segments are more stealth based and Cap more action orientated

I've played a lot of crappy super-hero tie-in games in my day. The recent Guardian of the Galaxy and Spider-Man games have been great though. I'll keep my eyes on this one. The cut scenes do look really well done.

This looks interesting. I'm guessing you can play as either of them and see the story plays between the two. Plus the graphic as nice. I thought it was live action a few times.
