You people act like this was the first time they replaced Punisher. Hell, they had a whole arc in the comics where multiple People took the mantle even a guy in Britain.

Also having someone replace a hero for a year is not always a bad thing. Hell, if they didn't replace Iron Man, we wouldn't have War Machine, we wouldn't have John Walker as Cap, Ben Reilly as Spider-man etc etc. Every hero get replaced at some point.

What I meant to say was this. And I understand my previous attempt to state it was more abrasive than it needed to be so apologies to anyone I may have offended. But really? The fact that it's been done before does not mean it was ever a good idea in the first place. Furthermore it was a massive failure for the time as well if I remember correctly. And I think I do. But beyond that it's just ridiculous how they treated Frank Castle through this entire process. They tore him down. Humiliated him and more or less castrated him. Why? They allowed a bunch of short time so called writers who will all cut bait and go somewhere else as soon as they can find a more lucrative job to more or less destroy one of Marvel's most beloved and iconic characters because some people wore his logo while doing some really dumb stuff. I get it. No one want's their IP to be associated with bad activities but still 99.9 percent of people who wear that logo and give their money to Marvel to have product with that logo are good people with good intentions and productive lives. What happens the next time they catch a criminal and he's wearing a Spider-Man T-Shirt? That's throwing the baby out with the bath water. It's not the character. He could possibly be a good character under different marketing under another name. It's not the logo. Though this one is much better than the last one but not near as good as the original. Frank Castle without the logo is still Punisher. It's not the guns. Give him some goofy looking Nerf lasers. Who cares they still do the same thing. It's the destruction of Frank Castle himself. He didn't deserve that and Marvel is better with him than without him.

This logo does look better than that affectionately nicknamed Demon's You No What but this isn't Punisher. Just bring Frank back. Bring back the Skull. Bring back the Pew Pews. Trying to regulate what people chose to wear when they do dumb things is like trying to determine which raindrops fall into a pail when it rains. Marvel needs Punisher. The real Punisher and the fans want it.

The only compliment I can give this is that is logo is way better than that last horned/japanese/ nobody gives a $#!+ redesign from the LAST time they rebooted the Punisher.

So it appears Marvel decided to give Frank Castle his pink slip and bring in retired S.H.I.E.L.D. black ops agent Joe Garrison with a new outfit/costume, redesigned skull logo, and new hairstyle, and give him ray guns instead of machine guns... What's next? We ditch Logan and make someone a whole new Wolverine with a new look, appearance, and mutant abilities.

Did Bane break Franks back?

A new PUNISHER will make his vengeful debut in an all-new ongoing comic series! Revealed during the MARVEL: Heroes, Hulks, and Super-Soldiers panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the new comic series will be penned by award-winning writer David Pepose (Savage Avengers, Moon Knight: City of the Dead) and drawn by artist Dave Wachter (Planet of the Apes, X-Men Legends), known for his gritty and noir-inspired art style. Covers will be illustrated by artist and industry veteran Rod Reis.Last week, Marvel Comics teased a single question: Who is the Punisher? Series writer David Pepose revealed the answer: Joe Garrison. The man might be different, but the punishment remains the same, said Pepose. I wanted to introduce the Danny Ketch to Franks Johnny Blaze. In this action-packed new PUNISHER saga, Frank Castle has disappeared, but evil will always need to be punished. With all-new threats rising to claim innocent victims, criminals will need to beware of a dangerous vigilante hunting them from the shadows. Enter a new Punisher: retired S.H.I.E.L.D. black ops agent Joe Garrison. But what brings him back into action? What put Joe Garrison on his path of vengeance? And when the smoke clears, will he even make it out alive?Pepose continued, I asked myself How do we build a bigger table? And how do we invite as many readers as possible? For existing fans of the Punisher and for new fans, this is a story thats not going to sacrifice any of the attitude, any of the action, and we are not letting the pedal off the metal. The Marvel Universe will meet the next generation of punishment this fall! Dont miss the start of a new PUNISHER era on shelves at your local comic shop starting November 8.PUNISHER #1Written by DAVID PEPOSEArt by DAVE WACHTERCover art by ROD REISVariant Cover by MICO SUAYANOn Sale 11/8

Part of me has a lot to say on this matter with how Marvel screwed up The Punisher and the last run of The Punisher storyline but I'm not going to go there.

LOL I think you just did, mate

I said this months ago: certain characters are just not replaceable. In almost every other case, the replacement is just a pale shadow compared to the original. And the comic stalls until the returrn of the proper character. Makes you wonder, why replace anyway.

Well we can all listen to why they say they change these characters and then anyone with half a brain can read the subtext of why they really changed that character. But in the end it's all just stoopid. Comics used to be escapism where we all could go to get away from the world but now it has all just merged together. That's why at one time all those movies with unrealistic and impossible scenarios were so popular. Now that everything is all about realism and practicality and real world issues it's just not fun anymore. I swear. If I have to listen to another one of these writers or producers of comics movies and games talk about realism or being grounded I'll rip my hair out. Realism really? For things about Superheroes and Science Fiction? I can think of a precious very few oxymorons bigger than that. Basically it's really all that much fun anymore. All I really have is memories of how cool comics and movies used to be and that's all I really hang on to anymore.

Nobody cares. Frank Castle was the Punisher. He was cool. He was popular. They screwed it all up. Now it sucks. Replacement characters never work. They'll never get the fans back. End of Story.
