So I hear that Foggy & Karen are not being recast, well I guess this truly makes the netflix series Canon which I really am fond of, but I really didn't love that Foggy, ah well, Karen loved Deborah..so I guess that's a win, but mostly a win if it really means we are not going to erase the Netflix show from the books, I think those shows should be kept in Canon, keep the cast and put them in the MCU Proper, love Kristen as JJ, although I mean Iron Fist...at least he got better in Season 2.

The Netflix shows are in the MCU canon. image.png

As far as your worry about DD, I am a little heartened by the recent news. Just the fact that they recognized a problem with this and DD is good. They edited this down because it was too late to totally fix. But, DD is being largely rewritten/reshot. Not sure of the validity, as it wasn't reported on this site, but it looks like Foggy and Karen Page actors are back in the show.

Initially I though so too. Because I did like those two as their characters. But what all these recasts and rewrites and the confirmation that the Netflix show is now canon is telling me is they are going to try to recreate the style and feel of the Netflix show. Which I often say was good but it just did not do justice to the character. It means less comic book BA Daredevil and more getting smacked around like a chump in pajamas and depending on you civilian entourage to save your hash from the fire. I was looking forward to DD being a real superhero type like he was in his early comic series but it looks like we're going to end up getting that dark gritty tough to get over on guys with no superpowers that we got with Netflix. Which really stinks because I was really wanting to see him gliding across the city on his grapple hook and doing crazy Captain Americ style ricochet tricks with his batons. But I guess we get the same take a beating and then question your abilities while on the mend and then ultimately overcoming your doubts and then take another beating only to have someone else do your heavy lifting in the end formula that we got from Netflix. Total buzz killer.

I really loved this show. I get the criticism, but don't really see it as a negative as much as something different. I loved all the character's development, I loved how the violence was handled. Being unrelated to the comic origins, I kinda digged her powers. I liked how they showed tradition and flashbacks. I loved the ep 3 silent film opening. It felt really comicbooky and I'm honestly here for it. I'm looking forward to more projects like this. I wasn't expecting anything, didn't really care for Hawkeye and wasn't looking forward to Echo... but I was pleasantly surprised

I know I was complaining about Page before, but I like the actress and character. I just felt like too much time was spent on her story in the show. We are watching DareDevil not the Karen Page show. But the fact that this is essentially an extension of the previous work is good. The fact that they recognized and are currently working to fix the problem is even better. I'm still hopeful for DD even though I didn't love this show.

A bunch of random weird statistics. I bet you it's also the first show released under the Marvel banner named after a character named after the the reflection of sound off a surface. You can make this type of goofy crap up all day. But is it a good show? No. Plain and simple. Rushed in some spots. Droning and lagging in other parts. Large elements were clearly taken out and edited down. I'd be lying if I said I watched it all the way through. I fell asleep so many times but just powered through it because I knew I'd never go back to it if I didn't. Disappointing but to say they weren't kind off letting us know it would be the entire time would be a lie. In the end we get more Kingpin and more DD leading into the future. Why they decided to call it Spotlight over Knights is a mystery to me but let's just hope they get better as they go. I'm so afraid for the DD series more than ever. Sixteen episodes like this? Please somebody help these guys figure it out.

iunno that i'd call Netflix-style "making all episodes available to subscribers simultaneously", definitively the worst release model for a television series, an """""achievement"""""

since83 - 2024-01-12 @ 11:21 pm

Not sure I'd call being jammed out and distanced from the MCU an achievement. Feige had no confidence in the show. They badly edited it down. You can tell there was probably an hour and a half focused on Biscuits fixing up Granny's truck. Thank God they took it out, but it was weird to see him all of a sudden driving a monster truck. Daredevil scene was good in the first episode which consisted of clips out of the Hawkeye show mixed with some new stuff. I liked the Yeah Yeah Yeahs theme song and the very end Kingpin bit gave me hope for a cool upcoming storyline. Kinda like Kamala recruiting Kate in the Fury to Stark homage scene should have brought joy to people even if they didn't like the Marvels. Much like the Marvels I hope they don't learn all the wrong lessons from this shows probable failure. I liked the fight scenes, but there weren't enough to carry it. The show felt forced and rushed at the same time that it dragged. I liked a lot of the characters but didn't feel like they needed to be focused on. The Macguffin powers she got were definitely not cooler than her actual powers in the comics, and the ending was so cringy I laughed out loud. I doubt I'll ever watch it again. I always want to like this stuff and really wanted it to be good, but it wasn't imo.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios' Echo has debuted as the top-ranked series on both Disney+ and Hulu. This achievement marks several firsts for the studio, including being the first TV-MA series developed by Marvel Studios, the first time all episodes were made available to subscribers simultaneously, and the first Marvel series to be accessible on both platforms concurrently.

Additionally, Echo is the inaugural show under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which aims to showcase more relatable, character-focused narratives with a street-level perspective, prioritizing local conflicts over the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe storyline.

Lord_Scareglow - 2024-01-11 @ 6:39 am

Just watched the first 2 episodes, hey I like this show, It's got a more sombre vibe then a lot of the Marvel things of late, the acting is good, nice movement, good action, so far so good, I'm saving the rest of the episodes, let's see how it all unfolds. DD in episode 1 BTW.
