Germany’s Most X-Rated Night Clubs
When the Berlin Wall fell, Berlin had an unprecedented cultural renaissance, with abandoned buildings and industrial spaces transformed into venues for artistic and personal expression. Many became nightclubs.
In March 2024, UNESCO announced the inclusion of “Techno Culture in Berlin” in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage, solidifying its status as the best nightclub city in the world. While Berlin remains the epicenter of Germany's alternative club scene, cities like Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt have developed distinctive nightlife cultures. Each city offers unique spaces where diverse communities gather to celebrate music, performance, and personal freedom.
We’ve gathered the best x-rated nightclubs throughout Germany so you can experience this cultural phenomenon.

1. Berghain (Berlin)
Housed in a former power plant in East Berlin, Berghain opened its doors in 2004. The club features multiple levels and is open for thirty-six hours every week, Saturday night, from midnight through Monday morning. Lines to get in are long, and you are not guaranteed entry. Nothing specific will get you in, as bouncers let people in strictly on the vibe you are bringing. You may wait two to four hours, get to the bouncer, and be rejected (celebrity won’t even get you in here; Elon Musk, Conan O’Brien, and Britney Spears are just a few who have been turned away). However, once you get in, you are in for good. You can come and go as you please, but most people who get in stay the entire time they are open. While there are strong ties with the LGBTQ+ community, people of all sexual orientations are welcome. The main floor is focused on techno, while the upstairs bar, Panorama features house music. The men’s only Lab.oratory is the club's kinkiest part, housed in the basement. You’ll find naked parties and other x-rated themed parties if you’re looking for something more x-rated than the rest of the club. Photography inside the club is not allowed.
