There's a lot of black washing to add texture and character to the figure, since it's mostly fields of red. However there may have been a little too much washing, as it seems like the black makes a whole other color scheme instead of highlighting the red. The joints though are some of the least noticeable on any figure. Virtually all of the points of articulation are hidden or blend in perfectly with the black wash.
